It is universally acknowledged that thanks to the proliferation of the Internet and popular social platforms such as Facebook or Twitter, the number of online news readers is mounting rapidly. However, I agree with the idea that traditionally printed papers are still considered as the most essential news source. (50 words)


It is hard to refute the dominance of online news in our current days. Thanks to technology, people now can get updated immediately from all sources of news on all kinds of electronic media platforms. Secondly, it is virtually free and easy to read online news: an internet-connected device and some basic skills to navigate between websites. However, it is the creditability of this instant news that concerns me substantially, meaning that it is challenging to judge the truth of a piece of news given/ considering its instant update feature. Indeed, to increase its reader volumes, most online newspapers vie hard to be the first to publish the news, which risks its liability. (114 words)

In light of / Regarding/ Given these worries, I believe in the utmost necessity of traditionally printed newspapers as an irreplaceable source of news. As I strongly believe, every piece of news must be carefully compiled with exact details and figures, edited, and censored before being publicized. This is because the cost of printings those copies is enormous; even a small typo can cause unimaginable damage to the publisher’s name and any party mentioned. That is why almost all readers seem to rely on serious newspapers for the economic news, or updated policies of the government. Furthermore, misleading advertising which is dominant in the virtual world now is rare in traditional newspapers, partly because of its high advertising cost and partly because of its widely acknowledged stringent censorship. In conclusion, online news is unavoidable development. However, just because the number of online readers has constantly increased along with the dominance of online new sources does not necessarily mean that traditionally printed media will lose their glorious day. I still believe that with its utmost creditability, reliability, paper-based news will remain its popularity.
